New Delhi: 1996 batch Senior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer YK Sailas Thangal has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Monday.
Currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, Thangal is expected to take up his new role shortly. The MEA issued a statement confirming the appointment, which read, “Shri YK Sailas Thangal (IFS: 1996), presently Additional Secretary in the Ministry, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan.”
With extensive diplomatic experience, Thangal’s appointment is expected to further strengthen India-Kazakhstan bilateral relations and enhance cooperation between the two nations.
