1994 batch Senior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Yogeshwar Sangwan has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. Currently serving as India’s Ambassador to the Republic of Paraguay, Sangwan is expected to assume his new role in Laos shortly.
In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the appointment, stating, “Shri Yogeshwar Sangwan (IFS: 1994), presently Ambassador of India to the Republic of Paraguay, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.”
Sangwan’s distinguished diplomatic career continues to be marked by his experience in fostering bilateral ties between India and various nations. The MEA further noted that he is expected to take up his new assignment in the near future.
This new posting underscores India’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic relations with Laos, a key partner in Southeast Asia.
