Senior IAS officer from the state cadre Sanjeev Kaushik has been appointed in a senior position in the Asian Development Bank based in Manila, the Philippines.
Kaushik, a 1992 batch officer, is presently additional secretary in the Union finance ministry handling banking operations.
He has been selected to take over the post of principal finance sector specialist to head ADB’s financial sector practices of lending to governments and financial institutions in Asia on financial sector reforms and projects. The project sectors include climate change, pension reforms, financial inclusion, digital banking, Basel reforms of banks and insurance companies, etc.
His appointment will be for three years, extendable up to seven years. The post is a staff position in the organization, equivalent to that of a senior diplomat in the United Nations. Kaushik, also an MBA degree holder in finance from London Business School, had earlier worked in Bank of America. HSBC, Lehman Brothers and Unit Trust of India while availing a sabbatical from IAS.
In the state, he held the positions of principal secretary (finance resources), managing director of Kerala Financial Corporation and also as the deputy chairman of Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).
