New Delhi: Mr Bibhuti Bhusan Patel, a senior officer of the Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS) from the 2000 batch, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre. Until this decision, he was serving as Director in the Ministry of Defence under the Central Staffing Scheme.
Mr Patel, known for his extensive experience in defence manufacturing and policy administration, holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemistry from Jyoti Vihar Burla Government College, Sambalpur University, Odisha.
Over the course of his distinguished career, Mr Patel has held a variety of important assignments in the Government of India. His early roles included serving as Technical Assistant and Assistant Manager (Works) in the Department of Defence Production & Supply in Pune.
His performance and leadership paved the way for postings at the central level, where he served as Deputy Secretary and later Director in the Department of Land Resources under the Ministry of Rural Development.
In June 2020, Mr Patel was appointed Director in the Ministry of Defence for a five-year term or until further orders. He also previously held the role of Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Department of Defence Production.
His repatriation marks the conclusion of a significant chapter in his central deputation, and he is expected to bring his administrative experience and technical expertise back to the IOFS cadre.
