Mr. Amrit Mohan Prasad, a 1989-batch Odisha cadre IPS officer, currently serving as Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), has been entrusted with the additional charge of Director General of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).

As per an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on January 22, 2025, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s proposal for ex-post facto approval of Mr. Prasad’s additional charge. The tenure is set for six months starting November 1, 2024, or until a regular appointee assumes the role or further orders are issued, whichever is earlier.

Notably, BCAS DG Zulfiqar Hasan retired on October 31, 2024, and Mr. Prasad was assigned the additional charge on the same day. However, the initial notification did not specify the duration of his appointment. The recent order clarifies the timeline for his extended responsibilities.
