Mumbai: The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI), a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has announced a change in its Board of Directors with the appointment of Mr. R. Lakshmanan, Joint Secretary, as a part-time Government Nominee Director.
New Appointment to the SCI Board
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has approved the nomination of Mr. R. Lakshmanan to the SCI Board, effective November 4, 2025. In his new role, Mr. Lakshmanan will contribute to guiding the organization’s strategic initiatives and policy direction in line with the government’s maritime vision.
Transition in Board Leadership
Mr. R. Lakshmanan replaces Mr. Venkatesapathy S., Joint Secretary, who ceased to be the part-time Government Nominee Director on the same date. The Shipping Corporation of India expressed its gratitude to Mr. Venkatesapathy S. for his valuable contributions and leadership during his tenure.
Formalities Underway
The company stated that the necessary formalities to officially induct Mr. R. Lakshmanan as a part-time Government Nominee Director are currently being completed. The addition of Mr. Lakshmanan to the Board is expected to further strengthen SCI’s governance structure and support its ongoing growth initiatives in the shipping and logistics sector.
