Skill Development Gets a Boost: NTPC’s CSR Drive Empowers Youth with 6-Month Skill Training at CIPET Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Reinforcing its commitment to community development and youth empowerment, NTPC Farakka, under the Ministry of Power, has launched a six-month Multi Skill Training Programme (MSTP) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with CIPET (Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology), Bhubaneswar.

Empowering Rural Youth Through Skill Development

The training programme is specifically designed to equip youth with industry-relevant, practical skills that will significantly enhance their employability. A total of 30 candidates from the adjoining regions of West Bengal and Jharkhand have enrolled in the course.

The initiative aligns with NTPC’s broader mission to foster inclusive growth and create sustainable livelihoods in the areas surrounding its projects.

Inauguration Held on July 26, 2025

The inaugural ceremony was held on July 26, 2025, at the CIPET Bhubaneswar campus. The event witnessed the presence of several NTPC dignitaries including:

  • Debabrata Kar, Head of Project, NTPC Farakka
  • Soumya Kar, President, Udita Ladies Club
  • Other senior NTPC officials and CIPET representatives

Debabrata Kar addressed the gathering, congratulating the selected candidates and encouraging them to make the most of the opportunity. He emphasized the importance of skill development in transforming lives and contributing to the nation’s growth.

Interactive Session with Trainees

The inaugural event concluded with an interactive session between the NTPC officials and the trainees. The exchange allowed participants to share their aspirations and seek insights about future career paths and industry expectations.

About NTPC Farakka

NTPC Farakka is a thermal power plant located in Farakka, West Bengal, India, owned by NTPC Limited. It has a total installed capacity of 2100 MW, with six units. The plant was commissioned in 1986 and plays a vital role in India’s power generation. The plant’s location near the Farakka Barrage is strategic for water supply to the Hooghly River.
