Srinivas Gotru, a senior diplomat from the 1997 batch of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), has been appointed as India’s next Ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). He is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and is set to assume his new role soon.
In an official announcement, the MEA stated, “Shri Srinivas Gotru (IFS: 1997), presently Joint Secretary in the Ministry, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to ASEAN.” The ministry also noted that he is expected to take charge shortly.
