Chandigarh: In a significant career milestone, Varsha Khangwal, Additional Director (Administration) in the Department of Information, Public Relations and Languages (DIPR&L), Haryana, has been inducted into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, Government of India, on Monday issued a notification promoting 15 officers from the Haryana Civil Services (HCS) to the IAS. All the officers, including Khangwal, have been allocated to the Haryana cadre on probation, until further orders.
Topped HCS Exam in 2004
Varsha Khangwal, a 2004-batch HCS officer, had topped her batch in the state civil services examination. Known for her administrative acumen and commitment to public service, she currently holds the post of Additional Director (Administration) in DIPR&L, Haryana.
Wide-Ranging Experience Across Departments
Over the course of her career, Ms Khangwal has served in multiple key administrative roles. She has held posts such as Additional Deputy Commissioner in Panchkula and has worked in the UT Chandigarh administration, Haryana Education Department, Sugar Mill sector, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), and Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).
Her promotion is seen as a recognition of her consistent service and leadership in diverse domains of governance.
Probation Period for New IAS Officers
All 15 newly-inducted officers will now undergo a probationary period, as per standard protocol, before receiving full confirmation in the elite IAS. Their inclusion in the all-India services is expected to bolster administrative capacity and governance delivery in Haryana.
The notification marks an important development in the bureaucratic structure of the state, bringing experienced state civil servants into the national mainstream through IAS elevation.
