Agartala: The Tripura government has placed senior bureaucrat Abhisek Chandra, a 2003-batch IAS officer, on compulsory waiting for posting with immediate effect. Chandra, who was serving as Special Secretary of the Planning (Statistics) Department, will remain without a new posting until further orders, according to an official notification issued by the state government.
“In the interest of public service, the Governor is pleased to place Abhisek Chandra, IAS, Special Secretary, Government of Tripura, Planning (Statistics) Department, Agartala on compulsory waiting for posting with immediate effect and until further orders,” the notification stated.
L.T. Darlong to Oversee Department
The government has handed over the charge of the Planning (Statistics) Department to L.T. Darlong, Secretary, Planning & Coordination, as an additional responsibility along with his existing roles.
As per the notification, the General Administration (SA) Department will draw and disburse Chandra’s pay and allowances during his waiting period.
Unconfirmed Allegations Behind the Move
While the government order did not specify the reason for this sudden administrative move, official sources suggest that the decision might be linked to alleged irregularities and unverified illegal activities involving the officer. However, no formal charges or departmental action have been publicly detailed as of now.
This reshuffle adds to a series of recent administrative actions taken by the Tripura government in a bid to ensure better accountability and transparency within its departments.
