Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, underscored the importance of instilling cultural values in younger generations as he inaugurated the newly established ‘Bharat Bodh Kendra’ at the India Habitat Centre (IHC) today. The initiative aims to foster a deeper appreciation of India’s civilisational roots and cultural legacy.
The new centre, housed within IHC, offers a curated selection of literature and resources focusing on Indian art, history, music, philosophy, and spirituality. Designed as a dedicated learning and reflection space, it is accessible to IHC members and encourages engagement with India’s enduring cultural narratives and evolving contemporary expressions.

Commending the India Habitat Centre’s commitment to environmental sustainability, Shri Manohar Lal called on other institutions to adopt similar eco-friendly practices. He praised IHC as a leading example of how spaces can integrate sustainability with cultural promotion.
After the formal inauguration, the Minister was given a guided tour of the expansive nine-acre IHC campus by Katikithala Srinivas, Secretary of the Ministry and IHC President, and Prof. (Dr.) K.G. Suresh, Director of IHC. The tour highlighted the Centre’s unique architectural style, green features, and its role as a vibrant platform for cultural and intellectual activity.

The event was also attended by Sanjay Kulshrestha, Chairman and Managing Director of HUDCO; Sanjay Shukla, Managing Director of NHB; along with senior officials from the Ministry and IHC.
