Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by CM Yogi Adityanath, held a significant meeting on Tuesday, discussing 31 proposals, of which 30 were approved while one was held for further review. The meeting focused on reforms in property registration, rural transport, urban development, infrastructure, and governance policies.
The Cabinet press briefing was addressed by UP Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Finance, Suresh Kumar Khanna, who highlighted the key decisions and new initiatives aimed at transparency, public welfare, and improved service delivery.
Major Reform in Property Registration
A landmark decision in the Cabinet meeting was related to the Stamp and Registration Department. Key highlights include:
- Owner verification mandatory: Before registering any property, the seller’s identity and documents will now be verified against Khatauni (revenue records).
- Revenue check: If ownership documents do not match, the Revenue Department will investigate.
- Stamp duty based on circle rates: Within municipal limits, a 2% development fee will also apply.
These reforms aim to prevent fraud, improve transparency, and strengthen the legal framework for property transactions in Uttar Pradesh.
Chief Minister’s Gram Transport Scheme 2026
The Cabinet approved the CM Gram Transport Scheme 2026, a major initiative to improve rural mobility across 59,163 gram sabhas. Key details:
- Local buses will operate in every village and reach district headquarters by 10 AM.
- Drivers and conductors will be local residents, ensuring ease in night stays.
- Private operators can participate under government-approved contracts.
- No additional taxes will be charged, and a district committee led by the DM will monitor operations.
This scheme is expected to enhance rural connectivity, benefiting farmers, students, and daily commuters.
Decisions on Transport Aggregators
The Cabinet also approved new rules for ride-hailing services like Ola and Uber:
- Companies must register vehicles with the Registration Department.
- Operations without fitness, medical, and verification will be prohibited.
- Aggregators must pay a ₹5 lakh license fee.
- The rules do not apply to three-wheelers and two-wheelers.
These measures aim to regulate ride-hailing services and ensure passenger safety.
Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Other Initiatives
The Cabinet approved several projects across various departments:
- Prime Minister Housing Scheme – Urban 2.0: New guidelines implemented for urban housing projects.
- Funding for new cities: Projects approved in Bareilly, Varanasi, and Orai.
- Ayodhya Sports Complex: Land transfer approved for development.
- Integrated Manufacturing Cluster: Near Meerut; new bridge connecting Transganga City, Kanpur.
- Investment promotion policies: Approval granted to several companies.
- Higher education: Teachers to receive cashless medical benefits.
- UP Cricket Association: Revised Greenpark Stadium leasing rates.
- Employee conduct rules: Mandatory disclosure of property and investments.
Additionally, decisions were made regarding dairy plants, mining auctions, and energy loans, reflecting the government’s focus on holistic development.
