Uttar Pradesh Govt to Provide Subsidized Agricultural Machinery to Over 3,300 Farmers Across the State

After Holi, E-Lottery to Select Beneficiaries; Farmers Must Upload Purchase Receipt and Photo Within 10 Days on Official Portal
Indian Masterminds Stories

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has announced that more than 3,300 farmers will receive agricultural machinery on a subsidy after Holi 2026. This initiative aims to modernize farming practices and boost productivity across the state.

Farmers Selected via E-Lottery

Farmers who applied online by March 4, 2026, through the Agriculture Department portal (www.agridarshan.up.gov.in) will be eligible for selection. In districts where applications exceed the target number, beneficiaries will be chosen through a transparent e-lottery system, scheduled for Friday.

Selected farmers will be required to purchase the machinery and upload the receipt and photograph to the portal within 10 days. Those who are not selected in the lottery will have their security deposit refunded, typically within six months.

Distribution under Agricultural Mechanization Schemes

The distribution of agricultural equipment falls under two main government schemes:

  1. Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM)
    • 2,519 farmers will receive machinery under this scheme.
    • Includes farm machinery banks, agricultural drones, and other single agricultural tools.
  2. Promotion of Agricultural Mechanization for In-Situ Management of Crop Residue
    • 800 farmers will benefit from this scheme.

Comprehensive details about the types of machinery, subsidy process, and guidelines are available on the official portals: www.agridarshan.up.gov.in and upyantratraking.in.

Notification and Confirmation

Farmers selected in the e-lottery will receive an SMS notification with instructions on uploading bills and photographs. Even farmers on the waiting list will be informed about the deadlines and procedure.

The Agriculture Department has emphasized transparency, urging all farmers who booked machinery online to participate in the district-level e-lottery to secure their chance of receiving subsidized equipment.

Historic Distribution of Agricultural Equipment

Since 2017-18, the Uttar Pradesh government has distributed nearly three lakh agricultural machines, which include:

  • 2.31 lakh single agricultural tools
  • 8,405 Custom Hiring Centers (CHC)
  • 7,351 Farm Machinery Banks

During the 2025-26 fiscal year, up to January, 7,777 agricultural tools, 51 CHCs, and 64 Farm Machinery Banks have been added, with bills uploaded on the portal.

Government’s Vision

The initiative is part of the state government’s long-term vision to modernize agriculture, increase farmer income, and promote mechanization in farming practices. By ensuring a transparent selection process and timely delivery of machinery, the government aims to provide direct benefits to farmers and support sustainable agriculture in Uttar Pradesh.
