UP CM Yogi Approves ₹715 Crore Mega Development Plan to Transform Kanpur’s Roads, Parks, and Infrastructure

Kanpur set to get new four-lane roads, Forest City, Botanical Garden, and upgraded urban amenities under KDA-led ₹715 crore initiative

Kanpur: In a major move to accelerate urban development, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved projects worth ₹715 crore for Kanpur city. The ambitious plans aim to revamp the city’s infrastructure, enhance green spaces, and ease traffic congestion, promising a significant transformation in the city’s overall landscape.

Kanpur Development Authority to Lead Implementation

The state government has entrusted the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) with the responsibility of executing these projects. KDA officials have confirmed that work will begin soon, with a focus on reducing traffic jams and upgrading the city’s roads and facilities.

Road Expansion and Connectivity Improvements

New four-lane roads, wider streets, and link roads will significantly ease traffic across the city. A new and improved route to Chakeri Airport is also planned, offering greater convenience for both travelers and businesses. Key road projects include:

  • Four-lane route from Ganga Barrage to Atalghat – ₹80 crore
  • Widening and modernization of Mainawati Road – ₹50 crore
  • New road connecting Mainawati Road to Barrage Road – ₹25.5 crore
  • Road strengthening from Bhatia Hotel Tiraha to Panki Dham Station – ₹30 crore
  • 30-meter master plan road under New Kanpur City Plan – ₹25 crore

New Parks and Green Initiatives

Kanpur will also receive its first-ever Forest City and a Botanical Garden, boosting the city’s greenery and benefiting the environment. Additionally, beautification and development work will be carried out in several parks, including:

  • Botanical Garden – ₹35 crore
  • Forest City in Maksudabad – ₹50 crore
  • Beautification of Gautam Buddha Park – ₹30 crore
  • Ramleela Park in Ratanpur – ₹25 crore
  • New park along Pandu River in Barra – ₹30 crore
  • New park in Tatya Tope Nagar – ₹30 crore

Beautification and Urban Amenities

The development plans also include upgrading Kanpur’s main entry points, beautifying Chakeri Airport, street lighting, façade lighting on major roads, and establishing STP infrastructure in New Transport Nagar. These efforts aim to present a cleaner, greener, and more organized city to residents and visitors alike.

Comprehensive Impact on Kanpur

Once completed, these projects are expected to drastically improve the quality of life in Kanpur. The city will enjoy better road connectivity, reduced traffic congestion, enhanced green spaces, and a modernized urban environment. These initiatives mark a significant step toward making Kanpur a model city in Uttar Pradesh.
