Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday issued official designation orders for four senior IAS officers, formally granting them the title of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS). Though the officers had already been promoted to the ACS pay scale earlier, they were still officially designated as Principal Secretaries until now.
With the issuance of the designation order, these officers can now officially use the ACS title in all official and administrative communications.
Officers Elevated to ACS Rank
The four senior officers who received the formal designation are-
Lakko Venkateshwarlu (IAS:1991:UP)
B.L. Meena (IAS:1991:UP)
Narendra Bhooshan (IAS:1992:UP)
Anurag Srivastava (IAS:1992:UP)
These officers had already been serving in top-level administrative roles and drawing ACS-grade salaries, but the formal change in designation was pending. The updated titles now align their official status with their pay grade and responsibilities.
What the Change Means
The formal designation as Additional Chief Secretary enhances the administrative standing of the officers within the state bureaucracy. It also reflects recognition of their seniority, experience, and contribution to governance in Uttar Pradesh.
This update comes as part of ongoing administrative restructuring within the UP bureaucracy, aiming to streamline titles and roles in line with the seniority and functional status of officers.
