Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh’s Membership Mega Campaign 2025 has marked a significant success in enhancing rural financial inclusion through cooperative banking. As of September 19, the campaign has led to the opening of 8,553 new accounts and mobilization of ₹21.8 crore in deposits, signaling a growing trust in cooperative financial institutions across the state.
The campaign is a flagship initiative of the Department of Cooperation and aligns with the global observance of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.
Strong Response Across Savings, Fixed, and Recurring Deposits
The campaign has witnessed widespread participation across districts, with new accounts being opened in various categories including:
- Savings accounts
- Current accounts
- Recurring deposits
- Fixed deposits
This momentum underscores the deepening integration of rural populations into formal banking channels through cooperative networks.

3,325 New Members Join M-PACS, Strengthening Rural Credit System
In a major boost to grassroots cooperative infrastructure, the campaign also led to 3,325 new members joining Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (M-PACS).
These societies play a critical role in disbursing agricultural credit, supplying inputs, and facilitating rural financial services, thus reinforcing the backbone of rural economic activity.
Minister J.P.S. Rathore Hails Campaign as a ‘Remarkable Achievement’
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Cooperation, J.P.S. Rathore, praised the campaign’s success, calling it a “remarkable achievement for the cooperative sector”. He thanked farmers and members for their growing trust in cooperative banks and emphasized that such initiatives are key to financial empowerment and rural development.
“This campaign is a clear sign that cooperative institutions are regaining their central role in rural finance. We thank our farmers and cooperative members for their trust and participation,” Rathore said.
UP Government’s Vision: State Cooperative College in the Pipeline
In line with its commitment to reform and expand the cooperative landscape, the Yogi Adityanath government is planning to establish a State Cooperative College. CM Yogi has instructed officials to develop a detailed roadmap for the institution, which will focus on:
- Education in cooperative principles
- Research in cooperative banking and agriculture
- Training for cooperative professionals and members
The proposed college aims to create a skilled and knowledgeable workforce to support the ongoing transformation of the sector.
