The government of Uttar Pradesh has appointed senior IAS officer Mr. Khatravath Ravindra Nayak as the state’s first Director General of the Fisheries Department. The 1995-batch IAS officer has been known to be an upright officer who has served in the UP bureaucracy in various capacities.
Mr. Nayak, a native of Telangana, pursued civil engineering for graduation before cracking the UPSC CSE in 1995 and was allotted to the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He was initially posted as the Assistant Magistrate and Assistant Collector in Lakhimpur Kheri. He then served as the Joint Magistrate in Jhansi and Agra districts. In 2002, IAS Nayak took over the post of District Magistrate and Collector in many districts including Bahraich, Muzaffarnagar, Banda, Etah, Deoria, Barabanki, Lakhimpur Kheri and Aligarh. In the year 2011, he was appointed as the Divisional Commissioner of Gorakhpur.
He played an important role as UP Transport Commissioner and later took over the responsibility of Secretary of UP Government in departments like Urban Development, Animal Husbandry, Sports and Youth Welfare. Since 2019, Mr. Nayak served as Principal Secretary in various departments, including Rural Development and Social Welfare. IAS K Ravindra Nayak was last posted as the Principal Secretary of Secretariat Administration, Dairy Development, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry.
