Lucknow/Rajasthan: Uttar Pradesh has once again emerged as the leading state in producing IAS officers in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024. A total of 179 candidates nationwide were selected for the IAS, with Uttar Pradesh contributing the highest number of 29 officers, surpassing last year’s figure of 27.

Home Cadre Allocation for UP Candidates

Of the 29 IAS officers from Uttar Pradesh, only six candidates received their home cadre:

  • Shakti Dubey
  • Mayank Tripathi
  • Shivam Singh
  • Siddharth Singh
  • Shweta
  • Ayush Saini

The remaining candidates have been allotted to various cadres including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam-Meghalaya, AGMUT, Gujarat, Tripura, and Andhra Pradesh. This means that many talented officers from Uttar Pradesh will now assume administrative responsibilities in other states.

UPSC 2024 Toppers and Cadre Allocation

  • Shakti Dubey – AIR 1, assigned Uttar Pradesh cadre
  • Harshita Goyal – AIR 2, assigned Gujarat cadre
  • Dongre Archit Parag – AIR 3, assigned Karnataka cadre

The cadre allocation generated considerable excitement, with congratulatory messages pouring in on social media immediately after the announcement.

Rajasthan and Bihar Performance

  • Rajasthan: 21 IAS officers selected (down from 23 last year), only 2 received the home cadre
  • Bihar: 15 IAS officers selected, with only 3 getting the home cadre

While selections were celebrated, the limited allocation of home cadres led to some disappointment among candidates and their families.

IAS Rank Cut-offs and Inclusivity

  • General Category: All India Rank (AIR) up to 80 awarded IAS
  • OBC Category: AIR 447 awarded IAS
  • SC Category: AIR 468 awarded IAS
  • ST Category: AIR 456 awarded IAS
  • Differently-abled candidate: Yash Kumar (AIR 1990) awarded IAS

This demonstrates UPSC’s inclusive approach, providing opportunities across categories.

UP’s Rise Reflects Strong Coaching and Competitive Culture

Uttar Pradesh topping the IAS selection chart for the second consecutive year underscores the state’s strong environment for civil service preparation. Cities like Prayagraj, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, and Noida have emerged as major UPSC coaching hubs, contributing to this impressive performance.

The continued rise in IAS selections from Uttar Pradesh not only boosts state pride but also highlights the competitive spirit and dedication of its young aspirants.
