Lucknow: In a bid to enhance the practical knowledge and understanding of the working of key government departments, 19 trainee IAS officers from the 2023 batch of the Uttar Pradesh cadre visited the Lucknow zonal campus of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) on Wednesday. The visit was aimed at familiarizing the officers with the functioning of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) and Customs department.
During their visit, Neha Lal, Additional Director of NACIN Lucknow, provided an initial overview of the department, underscoring the academy’s commitment to training and capacity-building for India’s revenue services. The session was designed to equip the officers with critical knowledge and insights into the department’s operations.
VP Shukla, the Pr ADG of NACIN Lucknow, interacted with the trainee officers and emphasized the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Shukla highlighted the important role that civil servants will play in realizing this vision, encouraging the officers to contribute meaningfully to national development.
The training session also featured a presentation by NK Das, Assistant Director at NACIN Lucknow, who elaborated on the workings of the Customs, Central Excise, and GST departments. He aimed to provide the officers with practical knowledge and an in-depth understanding of the responsibilities and challenges in these sectors, including narcotics control.
The session concluded with the reaffirmation of NACIN’s role in shaping competent officers capable of serving the nation with integrity and diligence. This visit is part of the academy’s ongoing efforts to prepare the next generation of civil servants for the evolving demands of governance and public administration.
Officials noted that the training program would help foster the officers’ understanding of critical revenue departments and serve as a foundation for their future work in various administrative capacities.
