UPSC Announces Change in CSE 2025 Personality Test Schedule Due to Republic Day Rehearsal; New Date Feb 27, 2026

According to the UPSC Exam Calendar 2026, the Preliminary examination for CSE 2026 was tentatively scheduled for May 24–31, 2026.

New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has revised the schedule for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 personality test and announced a postponement of the notification for CSE 2026 and Indian Forest Service (IFS) 2026. The move comes in view of administrative and scheduling considerations, including the Republic Day Parade 2026.

CSE 2025 Personality Test Rescheduled

The UPSC has rescheduled the personality test for candidates who were originally slated to appear on January 22, 2026, afternoon shift. This shift has been cancelled due to the full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day Parade, 2026.

  • Shift: Forenoon

The Commission has been conducting the CSE 2025 personality tests since December 8, 2025. Earlier, on November 11, 2025, UPSC had declared the CSE (Main) results, with 2,736 candidates qualifying for the personality test stage. The detailed schedule for the personality test was announced on December 2, 2025.

Documents Required for Personality Test

Candidates appearing for the personality test must carry essential documents, including:

  • Supporting eligibility documents
  • Educational qualification certificates
  • Reservation category certificate (if applicable)

Community status proof

  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate
  • Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) certificate

Postponement of CSE and IFS 2026 Notification

In addition to rescheduling the personality test, UPSC has postponed the notification release for CSE 2026 and IFS 2026.

An official UPSC statement reads:

“The Notification of Civil Services Examination, 2026 and Indian Forest Service Examination, 2026, scheduled to be notified on 14.01.2026, has now been postponed due to administrative reasons and the same will be notified in due course.

While the exact administrative issues were not elaborated upon, such delays can occur due to internal clearances, finalisation of vacancies, or updates to the application portal.

Tentative Dates for CSE 2026

According to the UPSC Exam Calendar 2026, the Preliminary examination for CSE 2026 was tentatively scheduled for May 24–31, 2026. Aspirants will now have to wait for the Commission to release updated notification dates and the online application window.

The postponement has prompted aspirants to remain alert for announcements on the official UPSC website and prepare accordingly for changes in the recruitment schedule.
