Lucknow: Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government is aggressively working to position the state as a leading digital and artificial intelligence (AI) hub in India. As part of this strategy, the state plans to develop eight major data center parks across key cities, attracting large-scale investment and generating significant employment opportunities.
The initiative is expected to bring investment proposals worth ₹2 lakh crore and create around 50,000 direct jobs, with additional indirect employment across related sectors.
Data Center Parks to be Developed Across Key Cities
The government has identified prominent locations for the data center parks, including:
- Noida, Greater Noida, Yamuna Expressway region
- Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, and Agra
Land identification and allocation processes are already underway in Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Expressway region. Some companies have already received land, while master planning and zoning are ongoing in other cities.

Strong Investor Interest from National and International Firms
Several national and international companies have shown interest in investing in these data center parks, including:
- HCL Technologies
- Adani Group
- NTT Data
- Yotta Infrastructure
- Sterlite Technologies
- Sify Technologies
Many of these companies have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), and several projects are already in the construction phase.
Power and Renewable Energy Focus
Data centers require high electricity consumption, and the Uttar Pradesh government plans to meet an estimated 900 MW demand. New substations will be established, and the transmission network will be strengthened to provide dedicated power supply to these parks.
The state is also promoting renewable energy usage to ensure that data center operations remain environmentally sustainable.
Incentives and Single-Window Clearance for Investors
To attract investment, the government has introduced a data center policy offering:
- Capital subsidies
- Reduced electricity tariffs
- Stamp duty exemptions
- Government support for infrastructure development
Additionally, a single-window approval system has been implemented to streamline permissions and reduce bureaucratic delays for investors.
Employment and Economic Impact
The development of the eight data center parks is expected to generate:
- Around 50,000 direct jobs
- Significant indirect employment across IT, logistics, and allied sectors
Most phases of these projects are expected to be completed within 3–5 years, positioning Uttar Pradesh as one of India’s leading states for digital infrastructure and technological investment.
