Lucknow: In a major administrative exercise aimed at strengthening law and order, the Government of Uttar Pradesh on Monday carried out a large-scale reshuffle in the police department, transferring 27 IPS officers, including one IG-rank officer and 26 SP-rank officers.
The reshuffle has led to the replacement of Superintendents of Police in 13 districts, marking one of the most significant police transfer exercises in recent months under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath.
Officials said the transfers are intended to further streamline policing, improve district-level command and strengthen administrative responsiveness.

Commissionerate Officers Shifted to District Command

This reflects a broader administrative strategy of deploying urban policing experience to district field command.

- Dr. Diksha Sharma transferred from Hamirpur to Lucknow as DCP
District posting from commissionerate

The deployment reflects confidence in officers with commissionerate-level operational exposure.
SPs of Bahraich and Rampur Shifted to PAC
The reshuffle also includes movement of district police chiefs into armed police assignments.
Officials confirmed that officers serving as SPs in:
- Bahraich
- Rampur
have been transferred to the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC).
Such transfers are often part of broader rotational policing policy.
PAC Battalions Also See New Commandants
The reshuffle extends beyond civil policing into armed formations.
New PAC command appointments

- Vidyasagar Mishra appointed Commandant, 11th Battalion PAC, Sitapur
SSF Posting in Ayodhya

Administrative Objective Behind Reshuffle
Officials indicated the reshuffle is intended to:
- Improve district policing efficiency
- Strengthen command accountability
- Rotate officers across field and battalion assignments
- Enhance law and order preparedness
Given Uttar Pradesh’s size and operational complexity, such reshuffles are periodically undertaken to maintain administrative balance.
