The government of Uttar Pradesh has recently appointed the retired IAS officer Mukul Singhal as the Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh State Cooperative Election Commission (UPSCEC). Officer Singhal, a 1986-batch retired IAS officer, last served as the Chairman of the Board of Revenue before retiring in 2022.
In his extensive career, Mr. Singhal held 61 different postings, beginning with his first field assignment as Assistant Collector in Pauri Garhwal in 1989. Notably, Uttar Pradesh has appointed several retired IAS officers to key positions.
Retired IAS Awanish Kumar Awasthi (1987 batch), the former Additional Chief Secretary (Home), currently serves as an Advisor to the Chief Minister. Similarly, Retd. IAS Arvind Kumar (1988 batch) was appointed Advisor to the Chief Minister and later became Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC). Retd. IAS Sanjay Bhoosreddy (1989 batch) presently serves as the Chairman of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA), and Retd. IAS Navneet Sehgal (1988 batch) serves as Chairman of Prasar Bharati in the central government.
With Mukul Singhal’s appointment, the state government continues to assign significant roles to retired IAS officers.
