Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved financial sanctions worth ₹126.83 crore, prioritising religious tourism, rural empowerment, and infrastructure expansion across the state. The funding aims to accelerate development in mountainous regions while strengthening basic civic amenities in both rural and urban areas.
The approved funds include allocations for Maa Nanda Raj Jaat preparations, financial transfers to Panchayati Raj institutions under the 15th Finance Commission, and multiple infrastructure and public welfare projects.
₹3.08 Crore for Maa Nanda Raj Jaat Infrastructure Development
To enhance facilities along the Maa Nanda Raj Jaat pilgrimage route, the Chief Minister has sanctioned ₹3.08 crore for infrastructure development. The funds will be utilised for constructing parking facilities and rest houses in development blocks of Tharali, Karnaprayag, Deval, and Narayanbagad in Chamoli district.
The initiative is expected to strengthen religious tourism infrastructure and improve convenience for devotees and visitors traveling through the region.
₹89.41 Crore Transferred to Panchayati Raj Institutions
Under the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission, Dhami has approved the release of ₹89.41 crore as the first installment for three-tier Panchayati Raj institutions.
The allocation includes:
- ₹13.74 crore for District Panchayats
- ₹9.16 crore for Block (Kshetra) Panchayats
- ₹66.51 crore for Gram Panchayats
This financial transfer aims to empower local self-governance bodies, enabling them to undertake grassroots development projects and improve essential services at the village and block levels.
₹34.34 Crore for Key Development Projects Across Districts
In addition, ₹34.34 crore has been sanctioned for various infrastructure and welfare projects across Uttarakhand. Key initiatives include:
- Construction of a multi-level parking facility in Tharali
- Development of a bus stop in Ghansali, Tehri Garhwal
- Second phase of the Silla–Kandai motor road project in Yamkeshwar, Pauri Garhwal
- Ongoing construction projects under the National AYUSH Mission
- Drinking water scheme for the Ramnagar residential project
- Repair and renovation of schools in the Nainital region
These projects are expected to boost connectivity, public transport facilities, healthcare infrastructure, drinking water supply, and educational infrastructure across multiple districts.
Tanakpur Stadium to Be Named After Late Kailash Gahatodi
In a separate decision, the Chief Minister approved naming the stadium constructed in Tanakpur, Champawat, after former MLA Late Kailash Gahatodi as a mark of respect for his contributions to the region.
