Champawat: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced a major infrastructure development for Champawat district in Uttarakhand. On the occasion of the upcoming Holi festival, the Chief Minister approved ₹12 crore for the asphalting and improvement of the 20-kilometre Keematoli–Rausal road.
The project is expected to significantly improve road connectivity in the region and bring relief to thousands of residents who have been demanding better road infrastructure for years.
Road to Connect Around 20 Villages
The Keematoli–Rausal road, stretching nearly 20 kilometres, plays a crucial role in connecting around 20 villages in Champawat district. With the newly approved funding, the road will undergo asphalting and strengthening work, making travel safer and smoother.
Officials said that the improved road will directly benefit around 10,000 residents living in the surrounding villages who rely on this route for daily travel and essential services.
Better Access to Education, Healthcare and Markets
The development of the road is expected to bring multiple benefits to the region. Once the work is completed, villagers will experience easier and faster access to schools, hospitals, and nearby markets.
Improved connectivity will also support economic and social development, enabling farmers, traders, and small businesses to transport goods more efficiently and connect with larger markets.
Local authorities believe the project will also help improve emergency services and public transportation, which have been challenging due to poor road conditions in the past.
Long-Pending Demand of Local Residents
The demand for the asphalting of the Keematoli–Rausal road had been raised by local residents for a long time. During the “Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan Ke Dwar” public outreach program, villagers highlighted the issue and requested immediate action.
Taking note of public concerns, the District Magistrate of Champawat, Manish Kumar, forwarded the proposal to the state government for approval.
Swift Government Action After Proposal
After receiving the proposal, the state government acted promptly. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami approved ₹12 crore for the road’s asphalting and improvement work, fulfilling a long-standing demand of the region.
Officials say the decision reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure and addressing public needs quickly.
Boost to Rural Infrastructure in Uttarakhand
The project is expected to play an important role in improving rural connectivity and development in Champawat district. With better roads, the region may also see increased opportunities in tourism, agriculture, and local trade.
Residents have welcomed the decision, calling it a significant step toward better connectivity and overall development in rural Uttarakhand.
