Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has announced a 3% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for state employees, raising the total DA to 58%. The revised allowance will be effective from July 2025, offering significant financial relief to government employees across the state.
Chief Minister Approves DA Hike
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state government approved the 3% increase in DA, benefiting thousands of officials and employees working in public sector units, autonomous institutions, and other government bodies under the Seventh Pay Revision. The increase aligns with the revised DA rates announced by the central government.
Scope and Applicability of the Increase
According to an order issued by the Industrial Development Section-2, the DA for state employees has been increased from 55% to 58%. The revised allowance applies not only to regular state employees but also to employees of aided educational and training institutions, municipal bodies, local authorities, and both full-time and part-time staff.
The government has clarified that the enhanced DA will be applicable only to institutions and units with sufficient internal financial resources to bear the additional expenditure. Institutions are required to assess their financial capacity before implementing the new rates.
Financial Relief Amid Rising Inflation
The DA hike comes at a time of increasing inflation, providing employees with direct financial support and boosting their monthly salaries. This move is expected to ease the economic burden on employees and their families across the state.
Employee Organizations Welcome the Decision
The decision has been widely appreciated by employee organizations. Surya Prakash Rankoti, State President of the Uttarakhand State Corporation Employees Federation, thanked Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the state administration, stating that the government has consistently prioritized the welfare of its employees. He added that the 3% increase provides much-needed relief to employees and their families during the period of rising prices.
Nandlal Joshi, State General Secretary of the Federation, also welcomed the decision, noting that the government has respected the long-standing demand of employees. He expressed hope that the government will continue to take proactive measures for employee welfare in future pending matters.
