Uttarakhand is set to take a major step toward strengthening its tourism sector with the proposed International Uttarakhand Travel Conclave, scheduled to be held in the third week of February. The conclave aims to position the state as a global tourism destination while attracting investments across multiple tourism segments.

To ensure wide outreach, nationwide roadshows will be organised ahead of the conclave, beginning from New Delhi on January 10.

Conclave to Be Held Under CM Dhami’s Direction

The proposed international conclave will be organised under the direction of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the guidance of Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj. Preparations for the mega event were reviewed during a meeting of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) held on Saturday.

Tourism Secretary Dheeraj Garbyal, while addressing the meeting, said that this is the first time the Tourism Department is organising a conclave on such a large international scale. He emphasised that all stakeholders connected to the tourism ecosystem will be involved and projected as key pillars of the event.

Nationwide Roadshows to Promote Diverse Tourism Segments

In line with the Chief Minister’s instructions, extensive roadshows will be conducted across the country to promote Uttarakhand’s tourism potential. These promotional campaigns will focus on adventure tourism, eco-tourism, wellness tourism, winter tourism, and destination events, showcasing the state’s diverse offerings to domestic and international stakeholders.

The roadshows are expected to play a crucial role in attracting tour operators, investors, and event planners ahead of the conclave.

Wide Participation from Tourism Stakeholders

The meeting revealed that the conclave will see active participation from major tourism bodies, including the Hotel and Restaurant Association, Uttarakhand Tourism Representatives Association, Tour Operators Association of Uttarakhand, and the All India Domestic Tour Operators Association.

The event will provide a common platform for domestic and international tour operators, wedding planners, event and concert planners, as well as institutions associated with adventure and experiential tourism, to showcase their products and services.

Plan to Develop Conclave as Annual Branded Event

It was also decided that the International Uttarakhand Travel Conclave will be developed into an annual and branded international event in the coming years. Officials noted that this initiative will not only help boost winter tourism but also attract long-term investments in the tourism sector, strengthening Uttarakhand’s economy.

Senior Officials and Industry Representatives Present

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Executive Officer of UTDB B.L. Rana, Director Finance Romil Chaudhary, Additional Director Poonam Chand, representatives from Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam, and members of various tour and travel associations.
