Dehradun: Uttarakhand government on Friday evening issued a major administrative reshuffle involving senior Indian Police Service officers, transferring four key IPS officials and assigning two of them crucial responsibilities for preparations related to Kumbh Mela 2027 in Haridwar.
The reshuffle is aimed at strengthening law and order management and ensuring early administrative readiness for one of the country’s largest religious gatherings.
Two Senior IPS Officers Deployed for Kumbh Mela Security
Under the new order, senior IPS officer Yogendra Singh Rawat has been relieved of his charge as Inspector General of Police (Personnel/Headquarters) and appointed as Inspector General for Kumbh Mela 2027.
IPS officer Ayush Agarwal, who was serving as Senior Superintendent of Police, Tehri Garhwal, has been transferred and posted as SSP Kumbh Mela.
Both officers will handle major responsibilities linked to:
- security planning
- crowd control
- traffic management
- inter-agency coordination
for the upcoming mega religious event.

Shweta Choubey and Vishakha Bhadane Get New Responsibilities
As part of the same transfer order:
- Shweta Choubey has been shifted from IRB-II (Indian Reserve Battalion) and posted as SSP Tehri Garhwal
- Vishakha Ashok Bhadane has been transferred and assigned charge of IRB-II
The changes are part of broader police restructuring linked to field administration and reserve force management.
Additional Senior-Level Transfers in Uttarakhand Police
The government also announced several other important postings:
- Abhinav Kumar Singh Rawat has been relieved of duties as IG Personnel and appointed IG Kumaon Range
- Abhishek Agarwal has been transferred and posted as SSP Udham Singh Nagar
Udham Singh Nagar is considered strategically important because of its industrial significance and border sensitivity.
Tehri and CID-Level Postings Also Revised
Further transfers include:
- Amit Srivastava moved from SP Crime & Traffic to SP Tehri Garhwal
- Pankaj Bhatt transferred from CB-CID and posted as Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Tehri
Immediate Joining Ordered
The state government has directed all transferred officers to assume charge immediately.
Officials have also been instructed to ensure smooth administrative coordination so that no operational disruption occurs during the transition.
