Dehradun: In a major boost to Uttarakhand’s urban development, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved financial sanctions worth ₹1,967 crore for strengthening urban infrastructure, implementing GIS-based drainage projects and improving flood protection across the state.
The approvals include ₹1,960 crore for 15 GIS-based drainage projects in different districts, along with funding for flood protection works and civic infrastructure. The initiative is aimed at building safer, better-planned and more resilient urban areas while reducing flood risks.
₹1,960 Crore Cleared for GIS-Based Drainage Projects
According to the state government, the Chief Minister has approved ₹1,960 crore for implementing 15 GIS-based drainage projects across Uttarakhand.
The projects will use Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to improve urban drainage planning, helping authorities identify water flow patterns, reduce waterlogging and strengthen flood management in growing towns and cities.
The investment is expected to modernise drainage infrastructure and support long-term urban planning.

Flood Protection Project for Champawat
Apart from the drainage projects, the Chief Minister has sanctioned ₹6.82 crore for a flood protection project in Khet Kheda village on the right bank of the Sharda River in Tanakpur, Champawat district.
The project aims to safeguard the village from river erosion and seasonal flooding, providing greater security to residents and protecting local infrastructure.
Parking Facility Approved in Udham Singh Nagar
Dhami has also approved the release of the first instalment of ₹42.12 lakh for constructing an interlocking-tile staff car parking facility in front of the Consolidation (Chakbandi) Office located within the District Magistrate’s Office campus in Udham Singh Nagar.
The total project cost is ₹70.21 lakh, and the facility is expected to improve administrative infrastructure and ease congestion at the government complex.
CM Calls for Timely Completion
Chief Minister Dhami said the state government is committed to developing safe, well-planned and modern infrastructure across Uttarakhand.
He directed officials to complete all approved projects within the stipulated timeline while maintaining high-quality standards so that citizens can benefit from the infrastructure at the earliest.
According to the Chief Minister, efficient execution remains essential for improving public services and strengthening urban governance.
Development Projects Worth ₹17.80 Crore Inaugurated
Earlier this week, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Late Deepak Pundir Memorial Community Hall at Purukul village in Dehradun and laid the foundation stone for several development works worth ₹17.80 crore.
Describing the occasion as a historic day for the Mussoorie Assembly constituency, Dhami said the projects would improve public facilities and accelerate regional development.
He said the initiatives were not merely construction projects but investments that would create a stronger foundation for the area’s future growth.
Focus on Inclusive Development
The Chief Minister said Uttarakhand continues to make progress across multiple sectors under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He stated that the government’s focus remains on infrastructure development, better public amenities and balanced regional growth to improve the quality of life for citizens.
Later, Dhami also welcomed Kanwar pilgrims in Haridwar during the ongoing Shravan Kanwar Yatra, highlighting the state’s efforts to facilitate one of the country’s largest annual religious gatherings.
