Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the two-day 80th Mahadhiveshan of the Manwa Kurmi Kshatriya Society at Champa in Baloda Bazar district. During the event, he paid tribute to freedom fighter and social reformer Dr. Khubchand Baghel and lauded the society’s contributions to the state’s development. Ahead of Holi, CM Sai announced a ₹10,000 crore paddy bonus for farmers.
Paying Tribute to Social Leaders and Community Contributions
The program began with a two-minute silence in memory of Dr. Khubchand Baghel. CM Sai garlanded notable members of the society and was warmly welcomed with a Gajmala.
He praised the Manwa Kurmi community for its industriousness, organized structure, and progressive farming traditions, noting that the society has played a significant role in Chhattisgarh’s growth. He congratulated the community on its 80th Mahadhiveshan, emphasizing that such gatherings promote unity, coordination, and positive decision-making, benefiting the entire state and nation.
Focus on Education, Women Empowerment, and Youth Awareness
CM Sai highlighted education as the foundation of a strong and self-reliant society. He appreciated the society’s efforts to educate both boys and girls.
He also commended initiatives for:
- Promoting women’s self-employment
- Raising awareness about drug-free lifestyles among youth
- Supporting social reform initiatives
Government Schemes and Farmer Welfare Announcements
CM Sai detailed the state government’s achievements and welfare programs:
- Completion of 18 lakh PM Awas houses in the state
- Purchase of over 141 lakh metric tons of paddy from 25.24 lakh farmers at support prices
- Provision of ₹10,000 crore additional payment to farmers before Holi
- Distribution of over ₹15,000 crore to 70 lakh women under the Mahatari Vandan Yojana
He announced financial aid for community infrastructure: ₹50 lakh for a community building in Nardaha village and ₹25 lakh for a community hall in Baloda Bazar.
Naxal Eradication and Bastar Development
CM Sai emphasized that the state government is committed to eradicating Naxalism by March 2026, following the directives of the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister.
Through the Niyad Nellar Yojana, development work has been accelerated in nearly 400 villages, showcasing a new picture of progress in the Bastar region.
Leadership Acknowledged by Ministers and Community Heads
Revenue Minister Tankram Verma praised CM Sai’s leadership, highlighting remarkable development in the past two years and the effective implementation of welfare schemes for farmers, women, and youth.
Central President of the society, Khords Ram Verma, briefed attendees on the social reform decisions taken by the community. The event saw participation from Rajim MLA Rohit Sahu, society officials, women, youth, and community members.
