WCL and MOIL Renew MoU to Strengthen Mine Rescue Services and Underground Safety in India

New Delhi: In a significant move to enhance mine safety, Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) and MOIL Limited have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for an additional three years. The agreement ensures the continued provision of rescue affiliation and emergency cover for MOIL’s underground mines through WCL’s specialized Mines Rescue Services.

Focus on Safety and Emergency Preparedness

The renewed MoU emphasizes the importance of maintaining high safety standards in underground mining operations. The collaboration aims to ensure:

  • Swift emergency response in critical situations
  • Risk mitigation and accident prevention
  • Operational excellence and uninterrupted mine safety services

By extending this partnership, MOIL’s mines will continue to benefit from WCL’s extensive expertise in mine rescue operations, reinforcing preparedness for emergencies and safeguarding the lives of miners.

MoU Signed by Senior Leadership

The MoU was formally signed by Dinesh Bisen, General Manager (Safety & Rescue), on behalf of WCL, and Kishore Chandrakar, representing MOIL Ltd.

The ceremony was attended by Anandji Prasad, Director (Technical – Operations), WCL, along with Anant Masade, Sachin Ramteke, and Madhaw Mishra, reflecting strong institutional coordination and leadership commitment to mine safety.

Strengthening a Longstanding Partnership

The renewal highlights the ongoing trust and cooperation between WCL and MOIL Ltd. Over the years, the partnership has been instrumental in ensuring that underground mining operations are supported by reliable and efficient rescue systems.

This long-term collaboration demonstrates both organizations’ shared vision for a safer, risk-aware mining environment, setting a benchmark for emergency preparedness in the Indian mining sector.
