Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has taken a major step to support community healthcare in the Vidarbha region by donating advanced medical equipment valued at ₹1.69 crore to Dr. Hedgewar Blood Centre in Nagpur, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
The newly provided equipment includes modern machines like the Spectra Optia Apheresis System, Cryofuge Centrifuges, and the Evolis 4 Plate ELISA Processor. These cutting-edge systems are expected to significantly enhance the Centre’s ability to care for patients suffering from conditions such as sickle cell disease, thalassaemia, and other illnesses that require sophisticated blood processing and diagnostic support.
The equipment was officially handed over in a ceremony attended by Dr. Hemant Shard Pande, Director (HR), WCL, who emphasised the company’s commitment to social upliftment through healthcare. “WCL remains focused on supporting institutions that serve with compassion and dedication. This initiative underlines our mission to improve medical infrastructure and outcomes, especially for the underserved sections of society,” he said.
Dr. Hedgewar Blood Centre, which has been operational since 1993, has built a strong reputation in the region with its guiding principle: “None shall suffer for want of blood.” With this latest contribution from WCL, the Centre is poised to further expand its services and provide timely, quality medical care to a larger number of patients across the region.
