Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh could see fresh investment from the Welspun Group across technical textiles, pipe manufacturing and infrastructure, with the company exploring the development of a technical textile park and an anchor manufacturing unit in the state.
The investment possibilities were discussed during Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s interaction with Welspun Enterprises Managing Director Sandeep Garg at the ‘Dialogue on Investment Opportunities in Madhya Pradesh’ held in Mumbai.
The discussions covered the group’s expansion plans, industrial infrastructure requirements and opportunities to participate in new projects in the state. A proposed ₹150 crore investment in MS line pipes and ongoing investments by Sintex were also discussed.
Welspun Explores Technical Textile Park in Madhya Pradesh
One of the key proposals discussed during the meeting was Welspun Group’s interest in developing a technical textile park on mill land in Madhya Pradesh.
The group has also expressed interest in establishing an anchor unit within the proposed park. To take the proposal forward, Welspun is expected to send a team to inspect the site and assess its suitability.
Technical textiles differ from conventional textiles because they focus on functional applications across sectors such as infrastructure, construction, transportation, healthcare, agriculture and water management.
For Madhya Pradesh, such an investment could help expand the state’s manufacturing base while creating opportunities for suppliers, skilled workers and businesses connected to the textile value chain.
The proposed park could also support the development of a more specialised textile ecosystem rather than focusing only on traditional textile production.

₹150 Crore MS Line Pipe Investment Discussed
The meeting also focused on a proposed ₹150 crore investment by Welspun Corp in the MS line pipe sector.
The discussion covered the company’s existing activities in pipe manufacturing and its plans to expand investment in Madhya Pradesh.
MS line pipes have applications across infrastructure projects involving water, energy and other utility networks. Additional manufacturing capacity in the state could therefore support both industrial activity and infrastructure development.
The proposal also fits into Madhya Pradesh’s wider effort to attract manufacturing investments that can serve growing infrastructure requirements within the state and beyond.
Sintex’s ₹700 Crore Investment Also Reviewed
The meeting included a review of Sintex’s ongoing ₹700 crore investment in Madhya Pradesh.
Welspun Group has an existing presence in Raisen and Dewas, where its activities include operations related to pipe manufacturing and textiles.
The discussion around Sintex’s investment highlighted the group’s broader industrial footprint in Madhya Pradesh and the potential for further expansion across manufacturing segments.
Existing industrial operations can provide a foundation for new investment because companies can build on established local supply chains, workforce availability and business networks.
Welspun Eyes Roads, Highways and Water Projects
Welspun Enterprises is also looking at opportunities beyond manufacturing.
The company is expected to explore participation in road and highway construction as well as other infrastructure projects in Madhya Pradesh. Discussions also covered the possibility of the group investing in and participating in infrastructure development projects.
Water and wastewater management emerged as another area of potential cooperation.
This is significant from a development perspective because growing cities and industrial clusters require reliable water supply, wastewater treatment and efficient infrastructure. Welspun’s experience in these areas could create opportunities for the state to bring private-sector capabilities into large infrastructure projects.
Group Has a Diverse Industrial Portfolio
Welspun Group operates across infrastructure, pipe manufacturing and textiles, giving it a diversified business base that matches several of Madhya Pradesh’s development priorities.
Its manufacturing portfolio includes:
- MS and PVC pipes and fittings
- Water tanks
- Home textiles
- Infrastructure solutions
- Water and wastewater management projects
The group is also involved in the development and operation of road and highway projects.
Its existing presence in Raisen and Dewas gives the company an established footprint in Madhya Pradesh as it evaluates additional investment opportunities.
What the Investment Could Mean for Madhya Pradesh
The proposed investments come at a time when Madhya Pradesh is seeking to strengthen its manufacturing and infrastructure ecosystem.
A technical textile park could bring a specialised manufacturing segment to the state, while additional pipe production could support infrastructure requirements linked to water, roads and industrial development.
Investment in technical textiles can also create opportunities beyond direct employment. New manufacturing units typically generate demand for logistics, maintenance, raw materials, services and other supporting businesses.
Similarly, greater private participation in water management and infrastructure projects could help expand the capacity available for large development works.
For Madhya Pradesh, the larger opportunity lies in connecting these investments with existing industrial clusters in Raisen, Dewas and other parts of the state. If the proposals progress, the projects could strengthen manufacturing, create new employment opportunities and support the infrastructure needed for the state’s next phase of industrial growth.
