The central government has appointed Mr. Kartikeya Goyal, a 2010 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, as the Census Director of Chhattisgarh. In addition to overseeing the national census, Mr. Goyal will also supervise the caste census in the state.
Heading the Food and Warehousing Sectors
Currently, Mr. Goyal holds the dual responsibilities of:
- Managing Director (MD) of the Chhattisgarh State Warehousing Corporation, and
- Director of the Food Department.
His extensive involvement in these key departments has been instrumental in managing the state’s food distribution and storage infrastructure.
Deputation Finally Granted
Since his tenure as the Collector of Raigarh, Mr. Goyal had expressed interest in a deputation posting. That wish has now been fulfilled with his appointment as Census Director — a significant central deputation role.
