Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a ₹5 lakh cashless medical insurance facility for practising advocates across the state and tablets for 400 state law officers at a felicitation programme organised by the Allahabad High Court Bar Association in Prayagraj on Monday.
The announcements came alongside measures aimed at strengthening lawyers’ welfare, judicial infrastructure and the use of technology in legal proceedings.
₹5 Lakh Cashless Medical Cover for Advocates
Adityanath said the state government would introduce a cashless insurance scheme with coverage of up to ₹5 lakh for practising advocates in Uttar Pradesh.

He also announced an increase in financial assistance under the Advocate Welfare Fund from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh. The age limit for financial assistance to families of deceased advocates has also been raised from 60 to 70 years.

400 State Law Officers to Get Tablets
The Chief Minister announced that 400 state law officers would be provided tablets to improve access to technology and information relating to government cases pending before courts.
He also referred to an increase of more than 50% in the fees of government lawyers representing the state in courts.
Facilities for Over 10,000 Lawyers
The government will extend support for facilities being developed for more than 10,000 lawyers, including chambers and other amenities at the Allahabad High Court.
Reports said the project includes a multi-level parking facility, dining hall, common room and library. The CM said the government would support proposals received through the judiciary and the Chief Justice for essential furniture and equipment for the chambers.
Yogi Highlights Judicial and Technology Reforms
Addressing the gathering, Adityanath spoke about changes in police infrastructure, judicial facilities and coordination between the executive, police and prosecution since 2017.
He said district courts and jails had been connected through high-speed internet and video-conferencing facilities, while digitisation and virtual recording of evidence were being encouraged to reduce delays.
“Justice delayed is justice denied,” he said, stressing the importance of timely and impartial justice.
The CM also highlighted the use of online systems for prosecution and the presentation of scientific evidence in courts. He said stronger coordination between the executive and judiciary was important for effective governance.
Focus on a Future-Ready Legal System
Adityanath urged the legal fraternity to prepare for emerging areas such as cybercrime, artificial intelligence, data privacy, e-commerce, fintech, intellectual property and climate litigation.
“A future-ready Bar will lay a strong foundation for a future-ready justice system,” he said.
He called for continued cooperation and mutual respect between the Bar and the Bench, while emphasising the role of younger lawyers in strengthening public confidence in the justice system.
