New Delhi: Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCI) has appointed Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, as an Additional Director (Promoter – Non-Executive & Non-Independent) with effect from September 14, 2026.
The appointment was approved by the DCI Board through a resolution by circulation and became effective after the company received Purohit’s signed Form DIR-2 from the Paradip Port Authority on September 14.
DCI Board Approves Susanta Kumar Purohit’s Appointment
The DCI Board approved Purohit’s appointment through a resolution by circulation on September 4, 2026.
The approval was subject to the submission of the required consent in Form DIR-2 or obtaining a Director Identification Number (DIN), as applicable.
Paradip Port Authority subsequently shared Purohit’s signed Form DIR-2 with DCI by email on September 14, 2026. Following the submission, his appointment took effect from the same date.
DCI also filed the required disclosure under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Purohit to Hold Office Until Next AGM
Purohit has been appointed as an Additional Director (Promoter – Non-Executive & Non-Independent).
His tenure will continue:
- Until the next Annual General Meeting (AGM); or
- Until shareholder approval is obtained through postal ballot within three months of his appointment; or
- Until further orders,
whichever is earlier.
The shareholders will subsequently consider his regular appointment as a Non-Executive Director in accordance with the applicable provisions.
Susanta Kumar Purohit’s Current Roles
Purohit is a senior officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) and belongs to the 1996 batch.
His current responsibilities include:
- Chairperson, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority
- Additional charge of Chairman, Paradip Port Authority, effective September 1, 2026
He assumed the additional charge of Chairman, Paradip Port Authority for a period of six months or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Educational Qualification and Professional Experience
Purohit holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electrical Engineering from Sambalpur University.
He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from Andhra University.
During his career, he has held several important positions across the central government and state administration.
His previous assignments include:
- Joint Secretary, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals
- Various key positions in Indian Railways
- Responsibilities in the Ministry of Power
- Positions with the Government of Odisha
His experience spans railway administration, power, government policy and port-sector administration.
DCI Shares and Other Directorships
According to the company disclosure, Purohit does not hold any shareholding in Dredging Corporation of India.
He also does not hold any other directorships in listed companies.
The appointment therefore adds a senior government and port-sector administrator to the DCI Board in a non-executive capacity.
