Cochin Shipyard and DCI Forge 5-Year Partnership to Boost Vessel Repairs and Maritime Operations 

The agreement will facilitate dry dock repairs of DCI vessels at CSL facilities across India and strengthen fleet maintenance and operational readiness.

Mumbai: Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) and Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for dry dock repairs of DCI vessels at CSL’s facilities across India. The agreement, signed on September 7, 2026, will remain valid for five years.

Both CSL and DCI function under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. The partnership is aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two public sector enterprises and improving the efficiency of vessel maintenance and repair operations.

CSL and DCI Sign Five-Year MoU

Under the MoU, vessels operated by DCI will undergo dry dock repairs at suitable CSL facilities across India.

The agreement is expected to create a structured framework for cooperation between the two organisations and facilitate timely maintenance of DCI’s fleet.

The partnership will focus on:

  • Dry dock repairs of DCI vessels
  • Efficient vessel maintenance
  • Strengthening ship repair capabilities
  • Supporting timely repair and maintenance activities
  • Enhancing the operational readiness of DCI’s fleet

MoU Signed by Senior Officials

The MoU was signed by senior officials representing both organisations.

From Cochin Shipyard Limited:

  • Sanil Peter, General Manager (Ship Repair)

From Dredging Corporation of India:

  • Dr. GVR Murthy, General Manager (Technical)

The signing marks an important step towards enhancing cooperation between CSL and DCI in the area of ship repair and vessel maintenance.

Partnership to Strengthen DCI Fleet Readiness

The strategic partnership is expected to facilitate efficient maintenance of DCI vessels and enhance the company’s access to ship repair capabilities. By enabling DCI vessels to utilise CSL’s dry dock facilities across India, the collaboration is aimed at supporting sustained operational readiness of the DCI fleet.

The arrangement is also expected to contribute to a more efficient maritime ecosystem by bringing together the capabilities and expertise of two public sector enterprises operating under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

Focus on Stronger Maritime Ecosystem

The collaboration between CSL and DCI is expected to support India’s maritime infrastructure by strengthening domestic ship repair and maintenance capabilities.

The five-year MoU provides a long-term framework for cooperation and is intended to contribute to improved vessel availability, efficient maintenance and enhanced operational preparedness.
