The Jharkhand Assembly witnessed a major financial announcement as Finance Minister Mr. Radhakrishna Kishore presented the second supplementary budget for the current financial year, totaling Rs. 7,721.25 crore. Leading the allocation list is the Women and Child Development Department, which has been granted Rs. 208,225.66 lakh.
Chief Minister Maiyaan Samman Yojana Receives Major Funding Push
This significant funding underlines the state government’s commitment to social welfare, particularly through the Chief Minister Maiyaan Samman Yojana. The ambitious scheme seeks to strengthen maternal and child welfare programs across Jharkhand, ensuring better health and nutrition outcomes for mothers and children.
Other Key Departments Also See Significant Budget Enhancements
The Rural Works Department follows with an allocation of Rs. 132,482.85 lakh, highlighting the government’s focus on infrastructure development in rural areas. Health initiatives have also been prioritized with Rs. 72,975.89 lakh allocated to the Health Department to improve medical services and public health interventions.
Disaster Management has received Rs. 52,634.00 lakh to enhance emergency preparedness and response mechanisms. Similarly, the Forest and Environment Department will utilize Rs. 50,055.00 lakh for environmental conservation and sustainable development projects.

Other departments, including Home (Rs. 44,378.75 lakh), Energy (Rs. 30,323.14 lakh), and Primary Education (Rs. 28,884.14 lakh), have also seen considerable allocations to ensure smooth governance and sectoral development. Secondary Education has been allocated Rs. 5,076.25 lakh, while Urban Development receives Rs. 28,541.48 lakh, reflecting the government’s balanced approach toward both rural and urban growth.
Developmental Impact Across Rural, Health, and Education Sectors
Water Resources has been allocated Rs. 21,653.85 lakh, and Finance receives Rs. 12,652.74 lakh, emphasizing prudent fiscal management. Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Tourism, and other departments have also received targeted funding to ensure comprehensive state development.
