Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami today released the book New Political History of Uttarakhand State, authored by senior journalist Mr. Jai Singh Rawat, at the Chief Minister’s residence. The book provides a comprehensive documentary account of Uttarakhand’s political, administrative, and developmental journey since its formation over 25 years ago.

CM Dhami Applauds Author’s Efforts
At the event, Mr. Dhami congratulated Mr. Rawat for compiling an authentic and coherent narrative of the state’s political history. He praised the meticulous collection of facts, documents, and press clippings that highlight Uttarakhand’s challenges, political instability, and gradual development. The Chief Minister emphasized that the book, divided into five parts, will serve as a valuable resource for researchers, students, and youth preparing for administrative services.
Promoting Reading in the Digital Age
Mr. Dhami highlighted the importance of books in today’s era of instant information and artificial intelligence, stating that “Books deepen our thoughts and preserve knowledge permanently.” He appealed to all to encourage book reading over symbolic gestures, saying, “Give a book, not a bouquet,” to foster interest in literature and inspire authors.
Preserving Regional Languages and Folk Culture
The Chief Minister stressed the significance of protecting Uttarakhand’s regional languages and dialects, including Garhwali, Kumaoni, and Jaunsari. He urged students to promote language content, literature, and folk traditions in their mother tongues. Mr. Dhami also highlighted government initiatives to encourage students to research, write, and create digital content in local languages, preserving cultural heritage for future generations.
Strengthening Cultural Identity Through Education
Mr. Dhami emphasized that educating the new generation about ancestral struggles and traditions strengthens cultural consciousness and self-confidence. He underlined that language, culture, and customs are not just means of expression but the foundation of Uttarakhand’s identity.
Digital Initiatives for Language Preservation
The Chief Minister announced that the state government is prioritizing the digitization of local dialects, literature, and traditional languages. By making cultural content digitally accessible, the government aims to preserve regional heritage while empowering local languages to thrive in a modern and dynamic context.
