The Dhami government has begun implementing the development suggestions made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Uttarakhand’s state foundation day. Under the One District, One Fair scheme, selected local cultural fairs will be granted state fair status, with the government bearing the cost of organizing these events. This initiative aims to promote local culture, tourism, and economic activity in the state’s 95 blocks.
Spiritual Villages to Promote Yoga, Ayurveda, and Tourism
In addition, the state will develop one village per block as a spiritual village, creating hubs for yoga, spirituality, and Ayurveda. Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that the fairs’ organizers will remain in place, with the government providing support and assistance to enhance infrastructure, facilities, and tourist experiences.
Focused Development of Spiritual and Economic Zones
Officials have been directed to survey and prepare detailed plans for spiritual economic zones in areas including Drongiri in Dwarahat (Almora) and Shyamalatal-Devidhura in Champawat. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Mr. RK Sudhanshu, Director General of Police Mr. Deepam Seth, ADG Intelligence and Security Mr. Abhinav Kumar, Kumaon Division Commissioner Mr. Deepak Rawat, and several other senior officials.
Comprehensive Tourism and Local Industry Development
Chief Minister Dhami instructed GMVN-KMVN to prepare special winter travel packages and emphasized the promotion of Swadeshi products as a foundation for a developed India. Every district will create action plans to make GI-tagged products exportable. Additionally, the government will prepare special plans for tourist destinations, develop green belts in cities and forests, and ensure cleanliness at bus stands and railway stations.
Healthcare and Public Services in Focus
Mr. Dhami has also directed all District Magistrates (DMs) to adopt a sensitive approach to healthcare, regularly reviewing services, conducting inspections of hospitals, and promptly addressing deficiencies. Special attention will be given to areas affected by heavy rainfall, and measures will be taken to manage traffic congestion in major cities, ensuring efficient and responsive governance across the state.
