In a major decision bringing cheer to thousands of retired employees, the Uttarakhand Government led by Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced an increase of 3 percent in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state pensioners. The move, based on the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, provides substantial financial relief to retired government employees across the state.
The Finance Department issued official orders approving the enhancement, effective from July 1, 2025, marking another step by the state government toward ensuring the welfare of its senior citizens and retired workforce.
Revised Dearness Allowance to Benefit Thousands of Pensioners
According to the order issued by the Finance Secretary, pensioners will now receive Dearness Allowance at the rate of 58 percent, up from the previous 55 percent. This increase will directly benefit all government pensioners whose pensions have been revised in line with the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations.
The government’s decision aims to mitigate the impact of inflation on pensioners, ensuring that their fixed incomes remain sustainable amid rising living costs.
Extension of Relief to Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff
The enhanced allowance will not be limited to retired government officers alone. It will also extend to eligible teachers and non-teaching staff of state-aided educational institutions under the School and Technical Education Department, who are entitled to pension benefits at par with state government pensioners.
This inclusive approach reinforces the government’s commitment to equitable financial welfare for all sections of retired employees, both in administrative and academic roles.
CM Dhami’s Pro-Pensioner Initiative Reflects Governance with Compassion
The announcement reflects Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami’s pro-people governance approach, focusing on social security and fiscal inclusion. The state administration continues to emphasize timely implementation of Seventh Pay Commission benefits, ensuring transparency and accountability in financial management.
Officials noted that this latest hike aligns Uttarakhand’s pension policy with that of the Central Government, strengthening the state’s image as an efficient and welfare-oriented administration.
A Step Toward Welfare and Economic Stability
The increase in Dearness Allowance symbolizes the government’s sensitivity toward senior citizens and its resolve to maintain their purchasing power. With this move, the Dhami Government continues to uphold its developmental vision that combines economic prudence with social responsibility, ensuring that every citizen—active or retired—benefits from inclusive growth.
