Davos: In a significant development at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026, global technology giant Google has expressed keen interest in investing in the IT, IT-enabled services (ITES), and data center sectors in Madhya Pradesh, marking a major boost to the state’s ambitions of becoming an emerging technology hub.

High-Level Meeting with Google Leadership

On Tuesday in Davos, senior officials of the Madhya Pradesh government held detailed discussions with Sanjay Gupta, President of Google’s Asia Pacific region, focusing on existing and proposed IT, ITES, and data center projects in the state.

The meeting highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s readiness to cater to the specific requirements of global companies like Google, backed by a favorable policy framework, robust infrastructure, and a collaborative governance approach.

Focus on Green Energy-Based Policy for Data Centers

During the discussions, the state government informed Google about its plans to formulate a green energy-based policy aimed at ensuring adequate, reliable, and sustainable power supply for IT and data center projects. The proposed policy aligns with global sustainability standards and is expected to make Madhya Pradesh an attractive destination for energy-intensive digital infrastructure.

The meeting was attended by senior state officials, including Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Rakesh Shukla, underscoring the government’s focus on clean energy integration with technology-driven growth.

Gemini AI Applications in Agriculture and Education

Google also shared insights into the potential use of Gemini AI for driving innovation in agriculture and education sectors in Madhya Pradesh. Discussions explored how advanced AI-driven digital solutions could enhance:

  • Agricultural productivity and precision farming
  • Farmer advisory services and crop planning
  • Education delivery, digital learning platforms, and skill development

These initiatives are aligned with the state’s broader digital transformation goals.

Collaboration to Develop Madhya Pradesh as a Technology Hub

Sanjay Gupta agreed to collaborate with the Madhya Pradesh government in developing the state as an emerging technology and innovation hub. The collaboration will focus on:

  • Strengthening IT infrastructure
  • Promoting digital innovation
  • Supporting skill development and talent creation

The discussions at WEF 2026 reflect growing global confidence in Madhya Pradesh as a destination for technology-led investments and sustainable growth.
