Saluting the Women Officers

On International Women’s Day we take opportunity to look at the stellar achievements of some of the most effective civil servants of India
Indian Masterminds Stories

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Indian Masterminds salutes the spirit and strength of our women bureaucrats. Their achievements in every nook and corner of our vast country, their untiring efforts towards the betterment of society, have done us proud. We also take this opportunity to thank them, as well as our millions of our readers, to bring Indian Masterminds to where it is today.

We feel proud to be associated with the women bureaucrats of India. This is just the beginning. Indian Masterminds will soon come out with many such special shows. Several woman officers have chosen us to spread their special messages on this occasion. Here is the link of their video messages given below which is a brief introduction of each of these officers..

  • Vrinda Shukla. An IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, her initiative of raising awareness against child begging brought positive changes in the society. Her work under Mission Shakti empowers women who are victims of domestic violence, and also encourages them to speak up for their dignity.
  • Dr Akanksha Bhaskar. An IAS officer of West Bengal cadre, Ms Bhaskar is a proclaimed doctor turned IAS officer. She reaches out to patients in Government hospitals whenever she gets a chance and treats them free of cost. It’s her way of giving back to the society what she got from it in the first place. Her portal has helped 36,000 migrant laborers to get employment.
  • J Innocent Divya. As Collector of Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu, she made this tourists’ favourite district 100% plastic free. Helping tribes to own their house under various government schemes. Has started an ITI. Started a community kitchen for tribal children and pregnant women.
  • Hari Chandana Dasari. An IAS officer of Telangana cadre, Ms Dasari conducted breast cancer screening for over one thousand (1000) female sanitation workers under the CSR program. She also created a platform for local artisans to sell their products during the Covid-19 pandemic and helping migrants through livelihood opportunities.
  • Harshika Singh. An IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, she initiated beautifying the `anganwadis’ and launched several projects like `science lab on wheels’ and `libraries on wheels’, so that more children would attend schools and receive education. Her ‘Niraksharta Ae Azaadi Abhiyaan’ is making women literate and helping them understand basic bank mechanisms.
  • Nidhi Choudhary. A 2008-batch IAS officer of Maharashtra cadre, currently posted as District Magistrate, Raigarh. In the tribal district of Palghar, she worked to improve education, healthcare and sanitation. Palghar became the first district to introduce Gender Budget in ‘Zilla Parishad’. It also became first tribal district in Maharashtra to be Open Defecation Free (ODF).
  • Durga Shakti Nagpal. She’s an IAS officer of AGMUT cadre. While posted in Mathura as Chief Development officer, she took up an ambitious project of planting 25 lakhs trees in a week. During her tenure in Uttar Pradesh, she made sure that two major programs `Mid-day Meal’ and ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ fulfilled their purpose by introducing few mid-course correction.J Innocent Divya. An IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre, Ms. Divya played integral role in saving the ecology of tourists’ favourite Nilgiris by introducing several means including the completed ban on plastic. She has started a slew of community kitchens for the tribal children as well as the pregnant woman.
  • Kavitha Ramu. Not just an IAS officer 9of Tamil Nadu cadre), she is also a charismatic classical dancer specialising in Bharatnatyam. Kavitha has been giving stage performances for the last 30 years. She has held over 600 solo performances. She also played the lead role of Annamaya, in the Bharathanatyam recital choreographed by Dr. M Balamurali Krishna. 
  • Rajeshwari B. An IAS officer of Jharkhand cadre, Ms Rajeshwari came out with innovative ideas to battle the onslaught of Covid 19. She changed the lives of the people of Paharia tribe in Jharkhand by providing livelihood opportunities. She also focused on education during the Covid-19 lockdown by turning walls into blackboards.
  • Ritu Sain. She is an IAS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre. Whie posted as the collector of Sarguja district, she transformed Ambikapur into the smallest clean city of India. Amir Khan’s television programme Satyamev Jayate had an episode on ‘solid waste management’, that provided a starting point to her career.
  • Rohini Divakar. An IRS officer of Karnataka cadre, Ms. Divakar is not just a fearless Income Tax officer but also a shooter, singer and writer. She specializes in 10m air pistol. During her posting in Bangalore in 2011, she disguised herself as a singer to enter the house of a big music director of Kannada music industry for the raid.
  • Kiran Soni Gupta. A retired IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, Ms Soni is also an acclaimed artist. Her artwork was exhibited at many national & international platforms. Some of her special works including “Pooja Times” and “NREGA” were exhibited at Louvre, Paris for three years, in 2012, 2013 and 2017, and gained her international recognition and applause. She was also selected as the leader of the Youth Delegation (consisting of 200 delegates) to China in 2019 and Rio Olympics in 2016.
