Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced that the Bastar region will see all-round development, signaling a new phase of growth following the near-eradication of Naxalism in the state. The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth Rs. 284 crore in Pakhanjur, Kanker district during a public program today.
Key Development Announcements in Kanker District
At the program held at Netaji Subhash Stadium, Chief Minister Sai announced several initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and public services in the Parlakot area, including:
Introduction of Bengali language education in primary schools across 135 villages of the Bengali community from the new academic session
- Construction of a road from Sambalpur to Pakhanjur via Durgukondal
- Gaurav Path (honorary road) from Mandi Gate to Anjari Nala in Pakhanjur
- CC road construction from Pakhanjur Fish Market to Nar-Narayan Seva Ashram
- Boundary wall at Government Girls’ School ground
- Commencement of fire brigade services in Pakhanjur
- Establishment of Dhanvantari Generic Medical Stores at the Civil Hospital, Pakhanjur

- 18 lakh houses sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in two years, with 8 lakh beneficiaries already residing in new homes
- 70 lakh women benefitting from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana
Implementation of tribal-focused schemes such as Niyad Nellanaar, Dharti Aaba Abhiyan, and PM Janman
Restart of the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme
Paddy procurement at Rs. 3,100 per quintal, up to 21 quintals per acre, benefiting farmers directly
CM Sai emphasized that the state government is working rapidly in alignment with the resolutions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aiming to accelerate development in tribal-dominated regions like Bastar.

During his visit, Chief Minister Sai:
- Offered prayers at Nar Narayan Seva Ashram, praising its mission of “service to humanity is service to God”
- Paid homage to revolutionary martyr Gaind Singh of the Parkot rebellion at his statue in Pakhanjur
The ashram, founded by Swami Satyanand Paramhans, continues to promote faith, tradition, and social service in the region.
