Is it Possible to Recreate the ‘DDLJ Scene’ Today?

IRTS officer Sanjay Kumar asks why the popular scene of DDLJ cannot be recreated in Vande Bharat express.
Indian Masterminds Stories

Compelling his audience to switch on their thinking lights, IRTS officer Sanjay Kumar, put forth a question, which left several amused. In a Twitter post, dated February 20th, 2023, the officer shared a photograph of the iconic reel couple, Kajol and Shahrukh Khan, in their most legendary scene from the famous movie, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaenge. In the scene, Shahrukh’s character, Raj, has already boarded a train and is on his way away from her, when Simran’s (Kajol’s character) father, allows her to follow her heart and go to her love interest. What follows is a teary-eyed Simran running alongside the train, in a bid to catch it, and Raj putting out his hand, for her to grab and board the train. What a sweet ending to a beautiful love story right? But is it possible in today’s time?

With super fast expresses and fully air-conditioned trains like Vandhe Bharat, Tejas Express, and others, it gets extremely difficult for a passenger to board a train like that. Simply, because such trains have automatic doors, that close as soon as the train starts moving, making it physically impossible for someone to enact this scene. In his Twitter post, the officer asked the same question and the sharp-minded Twitterati were ready with their answers!

With some people coming up with actual logical reasons, the majority of the audience is having fun in the comments section with their own versions. The post has already garnered 74.7k views, 17 retweets, 9 quote tweets, and 665 likes!
