Nagaland: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has strengthened education infrastructure and community lighting in Nagaland by handing over an extended first-floor classroom facility at Government Primary School, Kevijau Colony, and 40 solar lights to Padum Pukhuri village in Dimapur. The initiatives were undertaken under the corporation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
The handover ceremonies were held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang, who attended both programmes as the chief guest. The initiatives aim to provide an improved learning environment for students, enhance community lighting and improve safety for residents.
Chang appreciated IOCL’s continued support to Nagaland through CSR projects in education, healthcare and community infrastructure. He also encouraged residents to maintain the facilities and make effective use of the development opportunities available through corporate social responsibility programmes.
IOCL Strengthens School Infrastructure in Kevijau Colony
The newly extended first-floor classroom facility at Government Primary School, Kevijau Colony, was developed to improve the school’s infrastructure and provide a better learning environment for students.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Dr Tinojongshi Chang highlighted IOCL’s contribution to development initiatives across Nagaland, including projects in the healthcare sector. He said the district administration and the people of Dimapur looked forward to continued support from the corporation in education, healthcare and infrastructure development.
Chang also recalled his association with IOCL officials since 2023 and discussions regarding the development needs of Kevijau Colony. The classroom project was taken up following these discussions to address the community’s educational infrastructure requirements.

IOCL Distributes 40 Solar Lights to Padum Pukhuri Village
As part of the same CSR initiative, IOCL handed over 40 solar lights to Padum Pukhuri village in Dimapur. The project aims to improve lighting in the community and enhance safety for residents.
Addressing the gathering at Padum Pukhuri, Chang described the colony as one of the best-performing colonies in Dimapur. He encouraged residents to identify suitable development projects and take advantage of opportunities available under CSR programmes.
The Deputy Commissioner also urged community members to take responsibility for maintaining the installed solar lights to ensure that the facilities remain functional and benefit residents over the long term.
IOCL Highlights Commitment to Community Development
Nitin Bhatnagar, Executive Director and State Head, IOAOD State Office (IOAOD SO), said IOCL remained committed to implementing meaningful initiatives in the communities where it operates.
Recalling a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office around two years ago, Bhatnagar said development requirements in Kevijau Colony had been discussed during the interaction. IOCL subsequently took up the request as part of its community development efforts.
He noted that Dimapur hosts important IOCL facilities, including a depot and an LPG plant, which help supply petroleum products, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) across Nagaland.
Bhatnagar said “Nation First” remained one of the corporation’s core philosophies and emphasised the importance of contributing to community development in recognition of the support it receives from local communities.
He added that IOCL considers requests from villages and communities in Dimapur and other parts of Nagaland in accordance with its CSR guidelines and priorities. The corporation’s CSR activities cover several areas, including:
- Education and school infrastructure
- Healthcare and related facilities
- Community infrastructure development
- Women’s livelihood and empowerment
Solar Lighting Project Worth Around ₹40 Lakh
Dipak Pathak, Deputy General Manager (Operations), IOAOD SO, Guwahati, said the solar lighting system installed under the project was worth approximately ₹40 lakh.
He explained that the system did not require major maintenance and urged beneficiaries to take ownership of the assets and ensure their proper upkeep.
Pathak also assured residents that IOCL’s management and teams would remain available to support the community with its basic needs, social activities and other requirements.
The handover of the classroom facility and solar lights reflects IOCL’s efforts to support local development through improvements in education infrastructure and access to community lighting.
