Muzaffarpur: NTPC Kanti has allocated ₹1 crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for the development of seven Chhath Ghats in and around its project area in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening community infrastructure and providing safer and more convenient facilities for local residents during Chhath Puja and other community activities.
The proposed works will be executed through the concerned department of the Government of Bihar under the Deposit Work Scheme. The CSR allocation has been made for FY 2026-27.
NTPC Kanti Allocates ₹1 Crore Under CSR
As part of the initiative, NTPC Kanti has earmarked ₹1 crore for the development of seven identified Chhath Ghats.
In this regard, Pankaj Kumar Gupta, Head of Project, NTPC Kanti, has written to the District Magistrate, Muzaffarpur, requesting that the proposed development works be executed through the appropriate department of the Bihar Government.

Seven Chhath Ghats Identified for Development
The development work will be undertaken at seven water bodies in and around the NTPC Kanti project area.
The identified locations are:
- Birpur Pokhar
- Sain Pokhar
- Maisaha Pokhar
- Panapur Kariyat Thana Pokhar
- Sirsia Math Pokhar
- Damodarpur Ganga Ram Pokhar
- Rani Pokhar
These water bodies are used by local communities and see increased activity during the Chhath festival.
Infrastructure to Support Safer Chhath Celebrations
The proposed Chhath Ghat development is expected to provide local residents with safer and more convenient facilities for observing Chhath Puja.
The initiative is particularly relevant for communities living in surrounding villages and Project Affected Villages (PAVs), where these water bodies serve as important locations for community activities.
With large numbers of devotees gathering at the Ghats during Chhath Puja, improved infrastructure is expected to support more organised and safer celebrations.
The development is also expected to provide community benefits beyond the festival period by strengthening basic infrastructure around the identified water bodies.
Focus on Project-Affected and Surrounding Villages
NTPC Kanti’s initiative is focused on communities located in and around its project area. Residents of surrounding villages and Project Affected Villages are expected to benefit from the improved facilities.
