Discover the incredible journey of Urvashi Prasad—a cancer warrior, policy expert, and dancer. How does she balance it all? Watch her exclusive interview to find out!
Indian Masterminds Stories

In a world where challenges come at us from every direction, some individuals stand out for their ability to face adversity with strength and grace. Urvashi Prasad is one such person—a formidable force in public policy, social development, and health, who is also a fierce Stage 4 ALK-positive cancer survivor. But what makes her story truly inspiring is not just her achievements but the way she continues to thrive—juggling a demanding career, her passion for dance, and her relentless battle with cancer.

Urvashi Prasad is proof that even when life throws its toughest battles, the human spirit can rise above and shine through.

OVERCOMING THE EMOTIONAL TURMOIL OF CANCER

The diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer can be devastating for anyone, but Urvashi has shown immense fortitude in facing it head-on. Her journey was made even more difficult by the untimely loss of her father, which added a layer of emotional complexity to her battle with cancer. However, instead of allowing grief and fear to take over, Urvashi channeled her energy into understanding the importance of mental health and taking control of her emotional well-being.

Her ability to focus on her mental health, seeking therapy, and maintaining a strong support system has been her key strength. In the most challenging moments, she found strength in staying connected with her work and using it as an anchor, allowing her to move forward even when life seemed uncertain.

DANCE: A LIFELINE IN HEALING

For many, healing is not just a physical process—it’s also deeply emotional and mental. For Urvashi, one of the greatest sources of positivity and mental strength has been her passion for dance. As a professionally trained salsa and bachata dancer, she found dance to be her sanctuary, a way to stay grounded and connected to her body despite the physical and emotional toll cancer was taking on her.

The thrill of performing in front of a live audience, feeling the music, and moving with purpose gave her a sense of empowerment. But her journey in dance didn’t stop there. During the lockdown brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, when the world came to a standstill, Urvashi took on a new challenge—belly dancing. It became another outlet for self-expression and control, reminding her that even during turbulent times, there is always room for growth and creativity.

Urvashi’s ability to balance a high-stakes career with her personal battles is a reflection of her indomitable spirit. Her story is an inspiration to those who are struggling with their own challenges, showing that it’s possible to not just survive but thrive in the face of adversity.

Urvashi Prasad’s journey is one of grit, grace, and unbreakable strength. She continues to inspire with her relentless fight, her professional achievements, and her refusal to let anything—whether it be cancer or personal loss—define her limits. She has shown the world that with passion and purpose, we can rise above even the greatest challenges life throws our way.
