Meet The BPSC Topper Who Finds Solace In Art & Craft

Indian Masterminds Stories

‘To Make Your World Colourful, You At Least Need To Hold The Brush’. Ms. Anjali Prabha who cracked the 68th BPSC with Rank 7 lives by this thought. Her journey is all about finding your place in this convoluted world. She not only did it but did it beautifully.

This is her second consecutive success in BPSC. She secured Rank 158 and was asked Assistant planning officer’s post. This year she has been selected as Sub-registrar. Not only this, she almost cleared the exam for Assistant Commandant’s post too.

Art & craft has been a constant part of her journey. Not only it became a way to express herself but also kept her motivated throughout the journey. Ms. Prabha likes to play with colours and also makes various designs with waste materials.

Anjali Prabha

While speaking to Indian Masterminds she says, “I have up practicing arts in the beginning of preparation. However, once I completed my syllabus, I again took it up. It was very soothing and gave me a lot of time to collect my thoughts and be creative.”

LEFT UPSC CSE AFTER FIRST ATTEMPT

Born and brought up in Gaya, Bihar Ms. Prabha did her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya. She then moved to Delhi for Graduation from Delhi University in Geography.

After completing her graduation, she enrolled herself in Masters from Nalanda Open University. Simultaneously, she prepared for UPSC CSE. The covid restrictions were still on so she took an online coaching to understand the syllabus and guidance.

After giving the first attempt in 2022, Ms. Prabha decided to leave it and moved to BPSC. It was a conscious decision. She is the eldest of four siblings and her father is the sole earning member of the family. “My father is a headmaster and siblings are still studying. When I couldn’t clear the prelims, I decided to give it a break and aspired to get one job. I want to contribute to my family’s income and unburden my father”, says Ms. Prabha.

The dream of UPSC CSE is not over for her yet. She is determined to try for it again and be successful.

INSIDE MOTIVATION IS NEEDED

When asked about one thing that matter in this whole journey, she says ‘inner motivation’. “Everyone has a dream job. They put their effort & hard work but success can only be guaranteed with consistency. It is only possible if you’re motivated internally. If outside factors are your driving forced then you might lose your focus. There will be hurdles and challenges but you have to be consistent and move towards your goal”, she explains.

She has advised the students to make their own decision and have faith on that. Also, practice is the key to succeed in the Prelims & Mains. Interview can be predictable. “It can go like a free-flow conversation or discussion too. Sometimes, it can turn out to be question-answer session too. One has to be prepared for the all the situation”, she said.
