Using Cartooning In Public Relations

He was a regular science student till unknowing he started making cartoons for newspapers. But, he never took it as a full time job. He turned towards public relations and aved the field. Meet Dr Ajit Pathak, first Asian Secretary of a global consortium of PR organizations and National President of the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) for an impressive 14 years. He is an author, a poet, an academician as well.

After deciding to take up PR as his career, Dr Pathak joined a top public sector company. A
nationalist to the core, Dr Pathak is involved in a plethora of social service projects as well. He

He was the first Indian to earn a doctorate in public relations. His career includes spearheading
communication, branding, and event management at Indian Oil Corporation, one of the world’s
largest Fortune Global 500 companies. Beyond corporate achievements, he has been actively
involved in raising public awareness about the Right to Information (RTI) Act and creatively
used cartooning to explain its significance.

Dr Pathak is also an accomplished author, having penned various books that further enhance
his status as a thought leader. His contributions to education, as well as his roles on academic
boards and as an honorary professor, showcase his dedication to fostering the next generation
of public relations professionals. In addition to his professional work, he is a poet, feature writer,
and a familiar voice on radio and television.

PRSI

The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) is a national association dedicated to promoting
the profession of public relations in India. It provides a platform for PR professionals to engage,
share knowledge, and advance ethical and professional standards.

PRSI plays a key role in organizing conferences, workshops, and other events to foster learning
and networking among PR professionals. Through its leadership, PRSI has aimed to enhance
the recognition of PR’s importance in both the public and private sectors.

AUTHOR

Dr. Pathak’s book ‘Right to Information – Realities and Perception’ delves into the challenges
and opportunities presented by the Right to Information (RTI) Act. It discusses how the RTI can
be effectively implemented, highlighting the realities faced by the public and government bodies,
and how public perception shapes its success.

The book serves as an important resource for understanding how transparency in governance
can be enhanced through public relations and communication strategies.
